SCOPE Alliance Publishes ATCA Profile: A significant step in the framework for COTS based Carrier Grade Base Platforms.
The SCOPE Alliance publishes its first specification profile on schedule as committed at its launch on January 18, 2006.
Piscataway, NJ - April 3, 2006 - The SCOPE Alliance, an association of leading Network Equipment Providers (NEPs), has published the ATCA profile.
The ATCA profile is a subset of the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturing Group’s (PICMG) AdvancedTCA® specification and reflects the technical requirements which are necessary and sufficient for modular hardware to create carrier Grade Base Platforms that fulfill the needs of NEPs and their customers, the service providers.
Three months after its establishment the SCOPE Alliance has published on schedule the ATCA profile continuing on its mission to provide leadership to the Carrier Grade Base Platform ecosystem.
“An ATCA profile from the leading NEPs enables hardware manufacturers to confidently make the necessary investments to commercialize ATCA boards & shelves, the foundation for Carrier Grade Base Platforms,” said Joe Pavlat president of PICMG. “We at PICMG will add the necessary level of detail to the profile to ensure product interoperability.”
