New Members Join SCOPE Alliance to Help Promote Open Carrier Grade Base Platforms for Service Provider Applications
Diverse new membership widens SCOPE’s competency base
Piscataway, NJ, June 12, 2008 – The SCOPE Alliance, an association of the leading Network Equipment Providers (NEPs), today announced that IBM has joined as a Contributor member. Astute Networks, Conference ConCepts and Freescale Semiconductor have also joined the alliance as Supporter members. Each new member has committed to support SCOPE’s mission of enabling and promoting the availability and interoperability of open Carrier Grade Base Platforms based on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) building blocks.
“SCOPE continues to attract new members and this is a positive reflection of the traction we have gained in promoting Open Carrier Grade Base Platforms for service provider applications,” said Magnus Buhrgard, SCOPE Alliance Membership Officer. “The diverse growth in our membership has also broadened our competency base and will further strengthen the alliance’s ability to provide leadership to the COTS vendor community.”
As a new Contributor, IBM joins with SCOPE’s 20 existing Contributor members that provide technical expertise and resources to help develop profiles and gap analyses for the COTS ecosystem. These contributors represent a broad spectrum of ecosystem vendors, representing hardware, OS and middleware vendors along with IT providers.
The new Supporter members have joined with SCOPE to support the COTS ecosystem and the relevant open industry specifications. For information on how to join SCOPE Alliance, visit www.scope-alliance.org/membership.
